UGC 2017-18 Scholarship for Professional PG courses for the SC/ST Students

Introduction to UGC Scholarship:

This UGC scholarship is aiming to help 1000 SC/ST candidates in financial assistance to go ahead for their professional post graduate course at well recognized Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

Eligibility Criteria:

UGC Scholarship

a) The candidate must be Graduated in the relevant subject and must have hold admission in regular full time Postgraduate course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized University/Institution/College.
b) The age should not exceed from 45 for the male canditates and 50 in case of female candidates as on 1st July on the year of application.
c) This scheme is not permissible for the canditates pursuing Postgraduate course in any of the Professional subject at correspondence/distance education mode.

Amount of Scholarship:

 Scholarship INR 7,800/- per month (ME/M.Tech)
INR 4,700/- per month for other courses.
 Contingency A INR 15,000/- per annum(ME/M.Tech) INR 10,000/- per annum for other courses.

Guidelines:

The UGC scholarship shall be granted in compliance with the following terms and conditions:

a) The scholar will get reimbursement for contingency grant sanctioned on his/her actual expenditure on the admissible items within the limit.

b) It will be compulsory for every post-graduate student to undertake 8 to 10 hours (per week) of work related to teaching and research activities as assigned to him/her by the institute. Tutorials,  development, laboratory classes, maintenance of laboratories, assistance in research and development activities undertaken by faculty members, maintenance and operation of Computers and other central facilities, assistance in library etc.

c) The books and non-consumable items purchased or acquired by the scholar must be returned to the concerned institution at the end of their programme of post-graduate and research work  as it is the property of the concerned university or the institution, out of the contingency grant.

d) The services of the students might get utilized for providing assistance whenever the Government of India/University Grants Commission/Council of scientific and Industrial Research/Industry sponsored projects are being undertaken. In that event, a portion of the scholarship amount Rs.1500/-per month might get charged to the project funds for the duration the students are occupied by these projects.

e) To become eligible for continuation of scholarship at the enhanced rate during the second, third and forth semester the students must hold a first class or equivalent CGPA/Grade during, the first semester, second semester and the third semester examinations respectively. Scholarship once discontinued will not he restored, even if a student secures first class or equivalent grade after the second semester.

f) The student will be eligible to get the PG Scholarship for Rs.5000/- p.m if he/she obtains first class, or equivalent CGPA/Grade during, their first semester, second semester and third semester examination and the students holding marks below 60% in their first, second and third semester examination, will get eligible to PG Scholarship for Rs. 1000/- p.m. only.

g) If Disciplinary Committee of the institution judges  any misconduct by the student or receiving the same then at any time scholarships may get discontinued.

h) The scholarship is not permissible for the PG student having GATE examination PASSED during the second year of their course.

i) The Scholarship will come to discontinuation if the student fails in any of his/her semester.

j) The undertaking shall be required by the student to the effect that he/she would not leave the course in the middle.

k) The student shall not be eligible to receive any emoluments, salary, stipend, etc. from any other source during the course of his/her studies

l) The UGC Scholarship shall be continued for the period of 24 months only.

m) Students will be accommodated in Suitable hostel available anywhere.

n) ME/M.Tech. students are not admissible for any House Rent Allowance.

o) Medical facilities as per university/institute/college rules shall be available for the student.

p) GATE Scholarship is not permissible for the Foreign /students.

q) The students shall be allowed to take leave for a maximum period of 30 days per winter, pooja etc. years in addition to general holidays but is not entitled to vocations e.g. summer.

r) GATE scholarships shall be received to the AICTE/UGC approved P.G courses [ME/ M.Tech. /Master of Planning] students.

s) Any other condition may be imposed by the UGC from time to time as deemed necessary.
